Class Note
Class of 1964

Dear Class of '64:

At it's 40th Re-union celebration of the Class of '64 at DBS on Nov. 6th, more than 80 classmates, their spouses and a few former teachers ( Mr. William Jacobson and Mr. S.K. Tai ) showed up to dedicate the new primary school classroom at DBS which was named in their honor. Room 322 or Primary 3M was the chosen classroom for the 105 '64ers and their families who have donated HK$520,000.00 to DBS. One of the attached photos shows the metal plague containing the names of all donors. ( Due to a few spelling errors, this plague will be replaced by a new one with the date of dedication included ).

Another attached photo has yours truly with the Head Teacher of DBS Primary School, Ms. Phyllis Lo.

Dear Class of '64:

On the morning of Aug 21, 2004, Phaithul Tejasakulsin and I went over to DBS and on behalf of all the donors of Class '64, presented a check for HK$500,000.00 to Mr. Terence Chang, the headmaster of DBS. Of this amount, HK$400,000 will be given to DBS primary school for naming of one of the classrooms. The other HK$100,000 will be employed by DBS for their needs. There is still some funds left in our account at the Bangkok Bank, I am still waiting for a few classmates who have not yet paid up. If I don't received their funds before Sept. 1, 2004, then their names shall not appear on the plague. Thereafter , our bank account shall be closed and the balance shall also be given to DBS.

We have received thanks from the headmaster and members of the DBS fund raising committee. For those Hong Kong based donors, DBS will be issuing receipts to you directly. The fact that we have so many donors participating in our fund raising exercise is an envy to some other classes who are still struggling to pull HK$400,000 together. Some classes don't even have any co-ordinators at all .Many of you have written to me expressing thanks etc. But, I should be the one thanking all of you for making this possible, and in such a short time frame. We may not have seen each other for a long time, and many of you may not be coming back for the re-union this November, but when it comes to chipping in for the classroom, we are relatively united for a good cause.

The architect for building the DBS primary school, Thomas Chow, is an old boy and he will be finalizing the shape and design of the plaque. I shall provide the final list of donor names to Victor Chan who shall be liaising with Thomas Chow and the new Campus Manager of DBS, Iu Ching Fai (63). I am told that they will give us a good classroom. I did visit the new primary school last Saturday and it is beautiful - the facilities are much better than what we used to have. I hope for those Hong Kong based class '64, you will be able to visit DBS on Nov. 6th, 2004 at our re-union dinner at DBS.

One again, many thanks for your generous donation.
