Class of 1971
30th-year Reunion Dinner
There are not too many 30 years in one's life, and therefore the Class 71
old boys threw a big reunion dinner party on July 7, 2001 at the Happy Valley
Racecourse of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Thirty nine of them showed up, of whom seven flew in from overseas primarily
for this occasion. They were
Au Fun Kuen, Clifton Chiu, Anthony Kong, Tung Man Kwong, Lai Cham Fai, Kent
Yeh, Patrick Li, Kingston Tseng, Paul Wang, Robert Fong, Peter Wong, Or Chun
Wo, Edward Kwong, Alan Cheng, Bernard Chan, Gordon Loch, Patrick Mok, Dick
Chan, Richard Leung, Johnny Loh, Chanindh Homsilpakul, Jimmy So, Wong Kwong
Chung, Peter Yin, Chan Yam Chung, Raymond Lo, Richard Yau, Ng Chi Chuen,
Wong Shek, Alex Ko, Max Tong, David Auyang, Henry Leung, Anthony Tang,
S.A.L. Rahman, James Lau, Yeung Tak Ming, Ken Loh and Shabbir Hoosenally.
Teachers of those good old days were of course also invited, and it was the
honor of the Class 71 that six of them came to the party. Among them were
three school headmasters, wow! They were Mr. Jimmy Lowcock, Mr. Jacland
Lai and Mrs. Mimi Lai. Mr. Jacobson, accompanied by his better half, was
busy trying to identify the students that he had taught. They flew a long
way from Vancouver, where they are enjoying their retirement life. Mr. Wai
Tong Chow took time from his busy schedule to join the party and returned
from his overseas assignment only on that day. Mr. Bobby Wan was never
forgotten (or maybe never forgiven) by many of the Class 71 old boys because
they claimed to be sent to caning by him.
A crowd of old boys gathered in front of the screen on which old pictures
were projected. Some of them scratched their heads from time to time trying
to figure out every face in the photos. Instead of going through the boring
process of asking everybody to present an update of oneself, Gordon Loch
did it in a very amusing way by asking old boys to identify themselves by
the number of children they had, the youngest and oldest age of getting
married, the biggest increase in weight since graduation, their youngest
and oldest children, the number of caning, the number of women they had, and
others that were not suitable for being put into print.
It was a very memorable evening, and the pictures and videos taken during
those few happy hours will be distributed to the participants in a CD.
Yes, it will be in a CD, and no more paper. Does it surprise you that even
those old boys (or old men) of Class 71 could be so hi-tech and
environmental conscious?
In case you do not know, our official website can now publish class
notes. If you do want to post news/gathering to our site, just send
your information (with photos) to mail@dsoba.org
or directly to Amy at amy@dsoba.org.

You can also initiate a group distribution list through Yahoo Groups.
The suggested name if you are starting a group is "DBSXXXX", XXXX
being the year at which the class year at which you want to
register. For example "DBS1971" invites subscription to all
classmates who are of Class of 1971.
