President Report 2003-04
General
Over the past year, we have an increase of 37 new Life Members, maintaining the same level of growth as the previous year (40).
Social Activities
There is a continuation, since 2002, of the gradual revamp of social events organized by DSOBA. Some of the less well-attended events had been replaced by a host of new activities added to our social calendar. We tend to think that these new events are either more conducive to the mature social interaction of old boys or bringing DSOBA closer to our mother school, DBS. The following is a summary of our social calendar:-

Financial Status
Our reserve fund is maintained at just above HK$1.7 million as of 28 April 2004.
As usual, the successful operation of DSOBA is financially dependent on the income raised during our Annual Ball. This year the funds raised again exceeded HK$200,000.00, and out of this amount, we have contributed close to HK$70,000.00 to DBS. The Race Box is still disappointingly a financial liability to DSOBA, making an annual loss of approximately HK$40,000.00. Its continuation will be seriously reviewed at the outset of the next term.
With the donation of seed money by several old boys, DSOBA will soon be operating a fund designated to care for needy past teachers of DBS. We see this as a meaningful way towards paying respects to our educators. Should any old boys want to give towards this cause, please contact DSOBA. (Currently, we have HK$60,000.00 in the fund).
Finally, I wish to thank all of you who have helped me run this organization over the last 2 years. I shall not name every one of you, but you know who you are. Thank you.
