Games Day Report
Warm sunshine, cool wind and laughter set the scene for
Games Day 2000,
an event held on the school field on Sunday, 29th October 2000. This
event is a long time DSOBA tradition.
Peter Yam and I were the MC. I attended the event the first time with
my family and we thoroughly enjoyed the day together with 90 other
participants (half of which are small children). My wife looked forward
to the day as it promised to be a great departure from the normal "yum
cha and shopping routine" on a Sunday. It was also great for the
children to have the opportunity to meet and participate in track and
field events with their young peers. I am certain that parents found it
to be most enjoyable to see their little ones take part in the events
organized by the Athletic Club of DBS. Many rolls of films were
"murdered" on this day by proud parents to capture the moments during
which their sons and daughters pass the finish line. It was also
great for those of us who don't manage to get much exercise to flex our
muscles and exercise our lungs.
Other than track and field events, the Athletic Club also organized
family games to ensure that no one miss out on the fun. For those of
you who missed the event, make sure you come next year. There is no
better way to spend a Sunday than to spend it with your family and
fellow classmates on the school grounds.
Special thanks to the teachers of DBS, student members of the Athletic
Club and DBS timing squad for their contribution to this very successful
family event.
