Dinner with Mr Don Brittain
Mr. Don Brittain, who taught at DBS from 1951 to 1957, visited
Hong Kong with his wife Belinda from 8 to 22 November, 2001. Mrs.
Brittain taught English at DGS in the fifties.
Mr Fung Yee Wang, a DBS old boy and ex-DBS teacher, is kindly organising
a welcome buffet dinner in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Brittain at the DBS
Day Boys' Dinning Room on 11 November, 2001 at 6:30p.m after the school
fete. I trust old boys of the 1950s would no doubt remember Mr Brittain.
It will also be an interesting occasion for other old boys to meet with
Mr and Mrs Brittain and listen to their stories about DBS (and possibly
DGS!).
Mr. Brittain was well known in Hong Kong for his expertise in, and
devotion to, geography education. Many of us who eventually studied
geography in university no doubt had been inspired by him. Mr. Brittain
was also very keen on drama. If you were in the School in the
mid-fifties, you probably would remember the wonderful play "Journey's
End" produced by Mr. Brittain.
