A Vancouver Chapter Gathering
to welcome the Headmaster's visit

Place : Kirin Chinese Restaurant
        in Richmond, British Columbia
Date : March 23, 2002

The Vancouver Chapter of DSOBA welcomed the visit of the present headmaster of DBS, Mr. Terrence Chang, to British Columbia with a Chinese dinner banquet at Richmond's Kirin Restaurant on Saturday, 23rd March 2002. Over 40 old boys from various years and former school staff with their respective spouses attended the function. The former school staff included teachers such as Mr. Y.T. Kwong, Mr. C.L. Kiang, Camorie Ann, Roy Leung as well as Stella Tse who worked in the school office for more than twenty years.

After a few initial dinner courses, Mr. Michael Lau, President of the Vancouver chapter of DSOBA, introduced Mr. Terrence Chang to everyone. Mr. Chang then proceeded to tell everyone about his mission for visiting N. America as well as talk about the latest developments in DBS and the building of the new primary school on DBS's premises. A VCD consisting of fairly recent footage of DBS was then shown. The video was very well-received and brought back fond memories to the many old boys at the dinner reception. A sense of the ever strong DBS school spirit was keenly felt.

After a few more dinner courses, the headmaster then fielded a variety of challenging questions from concerned (or inquisitive) old boys. As he pointed out before the forum "There's no free meal" and indeed he had to work for it! Nonetheless, he handled the questions to the best of his knowledge and professionally.

The evening ended with a lucky draw with prizes that included DBS photo frames, key chains and ties. There was also an auction for the tie which Mr. Chang was wearing. The bidding started at C$20 and finally ended at C$150 with Mr. John Cheung earning the honors with his generous donation. The tie was autographed by Headmaster Cheung.

The dinner gathering was a warm and informative event for all those who attended and everyone wished Mr. Chang all the best in his efforts to continue making DBS one of the leading schools in Hong Kong.
