Oh what a day,
what a day, I say, I say.
Novermber 9th it was
School Fete, for games and play.

The setup task was taskful
and fun it was not.
Up and down three floors,
three floors to carry, box after box.
But thanks to those who helped,
this taskful task was done.
And then it was time,
school fete has begun.

The crowd was huge,
larger than before,
I don't have a number
but that's what I saw.

The air was warm
but the sun kept away
and though 'twas not perfect
that's how it was that day.

Pop songs blaring, soft drink stands,
stalls for games, half of them the same.
Cotton candy sticks
for adults, for kids,
and goods to sell till almost six.

Sell, sell, sell,
that's all we did,
would you like to buy this or this or this?

We sold a lot
I'm glad to tell,
it makes closing up
a bit less like hell.

Thanks be to those
who stayed to closeup store
for it was box after box
back up the three floors.
