DSOBA 98 BACK TO BASICS BALL

    The DSOBA 1998 Back To Basics Ball was held on December 19 at the Island Shangri-La. All my worries about poor participation at this year's ball, due to low morale caused by a depressed economy proved to be unwarranted.

    The Back To Basics Ball was a tremendous success and I have to apologise for not correctly factoring-in the DBS spirit. Because of the high level of participation, we had to cram 2 extra tables into the venue and still turn down fellow aluminae who wished to attend. The ball was a success not because it was totally sold out, it was a success because everyone who attended had fun.

    My heartfelt thanks and deep gratitute to all the old boys who helped out and supported the event but especially to the following and each and everyone of their very special guests who performed for us so brilliantly that night: Ramon Lo Jr., Victor Chan, Lawrence Yu, Pang Kin Kee, Daniel Shek, Winston Tong, John Shaw, Tony Choi, Fred Lui, Mahmood Rumjahn, Daniel Fong, S.A.L. Rahman.

    Our special brand of DBS esprit de corps have made this year's Back To Basics Ball the success that it was. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going...and have fun at the same time.
